Coaching

What is coaching?

Coaching is a space to work on what matters most to you, in any area of your life – work, study, home or your future plans.  It helps you identify your strengths, work out where the obstacles are and turn your ideas into actions that work for you.

Coaching is positive, solutions and future focused.

Whilst we acknowledge the past and the fact that negative things may have happened, we do not dwell on this and use these as a way to explore solutions to move forward.

Coaching is about collaboration, an equal partnership and not being told what to do.

This is because we believe the coachee is their own best expert.  We will offer suggestions with the coachee’s permission and the coachee can then choose to apply those suggestions (or not as the case may be).

Coaching can be highly beneficial for a number of reasons. This includes helping to increase motivation in the coachee and goal attainment.

How many sessions are recommended?

Coaching takes place one to one across a minimum of five weeks and is useful for people with specific goals they wish to achieve.

Examples of coaching goals:

  • confidence
  • stress/anger management
  • time management
  • how to increase positive emotion

How long do sessions last?

Coaching sessions last between 50 minutes and an hour and a half and draw on a wide range of coaching approaches specific to the clients needs.

The approaches are selected based on the initial assessment. They are bespoke to the client as Michelle believes that ‘no one size fits all’ and every client is unique therefore sessions are bespoke to them.

Coaching is all about choice.  The coachee has to choose to have the coaching initially else it will not be effective and the coachee will end up disengaging.

Where does this take place?

Coaching sessions usually take place in our Colchester private practices but can also take place in the clients’ school if this is preferred.
